Hubei Writers Association is a professional people's group voluntarily combined by writers, literary theorists, literary editors, literary educators, literary translators, and literary organization workers in charge of the Propaganda Department of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee unit. The English translation is HUBEI PROVINCIAL WRITER'S ASSOCIATION, abbreviated as HBWA. The predecessor was the Central South Writers Association, which was formally established in June 1953. In March 1985, the company was separated from the Hubei Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In September 1991, the Hubei Branch of the Chinese Writers Association was renamed the Hubei Writers Association, and joined the Chinese Writers Association as a group member.

Hubei Writers Association, currently has 46 staff members. Three people enjoy the special allowance of the provincial government, six people enjoy the special allowance of the State Council, and six people receive the young and middle-aged expert allowance. There are 312 members of the Chinese Writers Association and 3870 members of the Provincial Writers Association. The agency has four offices: the Office, the Ministry of Personnel and Education, the Creative Liaison Department, the Theoretical Research Office, and the College of Liberal Arts and the Changjiang Literature and Art Magazine. In charge of a state-owned cultural enterprise: the Yangtze River Series.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Hubei Writers' Association adheres to the party's basic line guided by Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thinking of the "Three Represents," the scientific concept of development, and Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Adhering to the direction of serving the people and serving socialism and the policy of "Hundred Flowers Bloom, Hundred Schools Debate", promote art democracy, guarantee creative freedom, unite and organize writers, critics, editors, and literary education and organization workers to promote a new era Hubei develops with high quality, comprehensively builds a strong socialist modern province, and contributes literature to the realization of the "two hundred years" goal and the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the new period, Hubei's literary creation has been fruitful. A number of outstanding works won the "Five One Project" award of the Central Propaganda Department, the Mao Dun Literature Award, the Lu Xun Literature Award, the National Outstanding Children Literature Award, and the National Minority Literature. The "Horse Award" and other literary awards, old and middle-aged writers have been passed on, and a group of well-known writers have been well received by readers.

Hubei Provincial Writers Association has sponsored two literary publications, "Yangtze River Literature" and "Yangtze River Series". It also hosted the Hubei Writers Network, Hubei Writers (Quarterly) and the WeChat public account of the Hubei Writers Association to release the provincial literature information in a timely manner.
